Did you know that your oral health can have a significant impact on your overall wellness and underlying medical factors? Research shows a strong connection between gum disease and other health issues like heart disease, diabetes, pneumonia, infertility, and stroke. When you have gum disease, bacteria from your mouth can enter your bloodstream and travel to other parts of your body, causing inflammation and potentially leading to serious health problems. When you plan regular checkups, you’re benefitting both your smile and your overall quality of life.

We recommend that our patients with healthy teeth and gums come in for a dental checkup and cleaning every six months. Routine visits allow us to catch any potential problems early on before they turn into more significant issues. However, if you have a history of gum disease, we may recommend more frequent visits to keep your oral health on track.
At Hyde Park Dentistry, we believe that it's best to prevent dental problems before they start. Through early intervention, we work with our patients to develop personalized prevention plans that fit their unique needs.

We recommend that parents bring their children in for their first dental checkup by the time they turn one year old or when their first tooth erupts, whichever comes first. These early visits help establish good oral hygiene habits and allow us to catch any potential problems early on.
